Nick-San, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo

Nick-San features excellent Japanese food, sushi bar, seafood, and grill. It won the International Gold and Silver Awards for Quality in 2003. The restaurants have full bars, and also serve sake and Japanese beers.

The photo on the right shows the newest one, in the Pamilla mall in San Jose del Cabo. The original is in the Plaza de la Danza, on Blvd. Marina in Cabo San Lucas.

I visited the one in San Jose, and met Hiro Saito, the operation manager. Hiro is an energetic and gregarious host, and is obviously dedicated to the finest and freshest food for his restaurants.

During my visit, Hiro showed me several of his sushi specialties, all of which were delicious.

First came the Spider Roll, made with soft shell crab, rice, sesame, and avocado.

Following that treat came the beautiful Rainbow Roll, containing tuna, smoked salmon, red snapper, avocado, and cream cheese. I thought this was my favorite, but there was more to come.

The Salmon Skin Hand Roll was made of salmon skin, avocado, rice, and soy sauces.

Last but not least was the Tuna Tostada, which uses a won ton skin in place of a tortilla, covered with tuna, salsa fresca, and soy sauce. Now here's a fusion of Los Cabos and Japan cuisine to remember.

The Nick-San in San Jose del Cabo is located in the little shopping mall inland at the One And Only Pamilla Resort exit. The telephone number is 144-6262.

The Nick-San in Cabo San Lucas is located in the Plaza de la Danza on Blvd. Marina. The telephone number there is 143-4484. The restaurants are open daily from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm.
